RU cross country sprints to victory

Rochester University’s men and women's cross country teams placed first and second respectively in the Skipper Invitational in Marysville, Michigan, on Sept. 3.


The men's team took first place in the 8K, which represents the first time the men's team has placed in an invitational since joining the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in 2016.


Alec Shaw placed first for the men’s team with a time of 27:05.


Other notable individual placements include:

  • Reece Welch placed third with a time of 27:39

  • Cam Land took fourth with a time of 27:50

  • Noah Peterson was eighth with a time of 28:57




In the first match of the season, the RU womens’ team took second place in the 5K, and Heather Eller placed second as an individual with a time of 21:13.

Other runners who metaled include:

  • Aleah Dymond was seventh with a time of 22:18

  • Kylie Jones placed eighth with a time of 22:21

The next cross country meet for the two teams will be the Lansing Invite on Sept. 30 at Grand Woods Park in Lansing.
