The Rochester University Cross Country Team kicked off its season with its first meet on Friday, Sept. 3 at Oakland University. Familiar faces surrounded the team of 10 athletes as the rest of the Track and Field Team showed up to cheer their teammates on through the finish line.
“For a relatively young group, they performed very well and put forth one of the stronger opening performances in XC history,” Coach and Assistant Athletic Director Sean Foulkes said. “We were not running at full strength on the men’s side as some of our athletes are recovering from injury, but that makes me all the more excited about our potential.”
Foulkes said Senior Ally Slone has proved great veteran leadership to a talented group of women getting stronger with time. “It is my belief that both groups will make serious waves across the conference in the near future,” Foulkes said.
The XC team will be traveling on Sept. 10 for its second meet of the season at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI.
