Summers for a college student can go in multiple different directions. Maybe we just relax, or we work a lot, but sometimes we explore and go on adventures.

Here is a glimpse at what some of our Shield staff members did this past summer.

Jenna Pomaville

“I WENT ON THE ROCHESTER FIELD STUDY TRIP TO COLORADO AND UTAH FOR TWO WEEKS. IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS I’VE EVER MADE. I SAW SO MANY BREATHTAKING SIGHTS AND CREATED SOME LIFE-CHANGING MEMORIES WITH NEW FRIENDS.”

“AFTER TWO LONG YEARS, MY FRIENDS AND I FINALLY GOT TO SEE ‘THE 1975’ PERFORM AT OUR FAVORITE VENUE AGAIN. IT RAINED, WE DANCED, WE SANG OUR LUNGS OUT, LAUGHED TOGETHER, AND CRIED TOGETHER ALL BECAUSE OF THE BEST BAND IN THE ENTIRE WORLD, ‘THE 1975.’ ”

Christian Frazier

“THE MOOSE STATUE WAS AT THE BENNINGTON BATTLE MONUMENT LOCATED IN BENNINGTON, VERMONT. MY MOTHER AND I TOOK A TRIP AND WE EXPLORED AROUND THIS SMALL BATTLE SITE THAT DETAILS THE HAPPENINGS OF THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR AT THIS LOCATION.”

“I WENT TO THE CINCINNATI ART MUSEUM BURNING MAN EXHIBIT. THIS SCULPTURE IS CALLED "TRUTH IS BEAUTY.” IT PORTRAYS THE FEMININE ENERGY AND POWER THAT RESULT WHEN WOMEN FEEL FREE AND SAFE.”

Taylor Isenberg

“ I WENT TO POINT PELEE NATIONAL PARK IN CANADA. POINT PELEE IS THE SOUTHERNMOST TIP OF CANADA AND RUNS THROUGH THE 42ND PARALLEL.”

“I INTERNED WITH THE UNITED SHORE PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL LEAGUE WORKING AS THEIR COMMUNITY RELATIONS INTERN.”

Lily Cochenour

“I WENT TO CEDAR POINT FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE I WAS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL. I USED TO BE VERY AFRAID OF ROLLER COASTERS, BUT I GREW OUT OF THAT AND NOW I’M ONLY SLIGHTLY AFRAID. WE RODE EVERY ROLLER COASTER THERE AND SOME TWICE!”

“AT THE BEGINNING OF SUMMER, MY FAMILY TOOK A TRIP UP NORTH WHERE WE WENT TO HIGGINS LAKE, HOUGHTON LAKE, FRANKENMUTH, SAULTST. MARIE, AND A BUNCH OF PLACES IN BETWEEN. IN THIS PICTURE, WE STOPPED AT A REST STOP THAT HAD A LOOK OUT OVER THE EXPRESSWAY.”

Tanner Behmlander

“THIS WAS WHEN I WAS FLYING BACK HOME TO MICHIGAN FROM PHOENIX. WHILE I WAS IN ARIZONA, MY PARENTS GOT A NEW FRENCH BULLDOG, HER NAME IS MAGGIE.”

THIS IS MAGGIE.
