The Rochester University wrestling team placed two competitors at the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament Feb. 21-22, which was hosted by Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
Jerrod Mullins was runner-up at 165 and Austin Wolford placed fifth at 157 pounds. Wolford recorded 21 pins in his freshman season and went 35-10 on the year.
Mullins second-place finish earned him a qualifying bid to the NAIA national championships March 6-7, hosted in Wichita, Kansas. He is the first wrestler in the university’s history to qualify for nationals.
Mullins compiled a record of 30-7 and won 17 by pin, 2 by technical fall, and he had 5 major decisions.
