Men’s volleyball has been added to the Rochester Christian University athletics roster. The men's program will begin competition in the Spring of 2025. The women’s volleyball coach, Juliana Nash, oversees the current team with help from the women’s assistant coach, Dan Henegar. We asked some of the men's players about their excitement for the upcoming season. Hear what your men's volleyball team has to say below!
Jailen Tatum
Tatum is a senior studying psychology. As a three-sport athlete now at RCU, Tatum is hoping to experience a new team environment, “I love all the teams I'm on and I love meeting new personalities” he said in an email. “I would love for the school to advertise any competition for the volleyball team so that we can have a packed stadium when we do have a game. We have a great group of guys and I'm positive we can surprise some people who may have doubts about us.”
His sister, who also plays volleyball, helped and inspired him to join even though he hadn’t played before joining the team. Tatum grew up with two other boys and an older sister. He said he’d always played sports with his brothers but never with his sister. He said he is dedicating this season to her since she graduated last year.
R’Mancia Price
Price, a freshman financial planning major said this season he wanted to build relationships with his teammates and help inspire others to play. Price has been an Outside Hitter since his sophomore year of high school. He said he is looking forward to RCU unifoorms and helping the program grow as well as his passion for the game.
Logan Pruden,
Pruden is a sophomore studying digital marketing. This year was his first year playing volleyball and he wanted to be a Defensive Specialist. He said branching out and trying men’s volleyball is a fun and new experience for him and he is looking forward to gaining more experience. Additionally, Pruden is hoping for a good student turn out for the season.
Bao Nguyen
Senior studying physical therapy Nguyen said he is hoping to play with great people and win this season. Nguyen is a Setter and he has been playing volleyball for two years. He said he is excited to get some RCU gear this year and have support from the RCU student body at games.
Ethan Dinanath
This year will be Dinanath first year playing volleyball. The freshman accounting major said he was hoping to get better at volleyball this season and enjoy time with his teammates.
Emarion Buchanon
Buchanon, a currently undeclared, freshman, has not played volleyball regularly before joining the team is now a Middle Blocker. Buchanon said he is looking forward to winning and improving his vertical this season.
