Living in a dorm can be tiring, especially when your diet consists of eating noodles and granola bars 24/7. Going grocery shopping can be one of the hardest things to do on your own and a bit intimidating if you do not know where to start. This list can help those living on campus make easy and delicious meals!
1. Avocado toast
This is a quick and simple way to make breakfast. All that is needed is an avocado or two, toast and a little seasoning.
2. Spaghetti and meatballs
Spaghetti and meatballs can be made in a one pot. All it takes is pasta, a choice of sauce and pre-made meatballs.
3. Chicken and rice
Rotisserie chicken is often sold pre-cooked. Simply shred it and add Ben’s Original Ready Rice—it only takes 90 seconds to cook in the microwave. Then add salt and pepper and a few vegetables to make a great meal.
4. Quinoa salad
Quinoa can be cooked on the stove and it does not take a long time. Then you can add lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, avocado, tomatoes, etc., to make the quinoa more flavorful.
5. Pancakes/waffles
While pancakes usually take milk, eggs and oil, Bisquick’s Original Pancake mix only needs water. If you prefer waffles, buy a small waffle maker that is easy to wash and maintain.
6. Steak
Small steaks can be cooked in a pan. Just make sure to have a meat thermometer on hand.
7. Bowls/wraps
Using Ben’s Original Ready Rice and cutting up steak or chicken, you can create a bowl or wrap tailored to your taste. Salsa, lettuce, sour cream, tomatoes and cilantro are great options. Turning your bowl into a wrap is easy and tortillas make the meal more filling.
