Spring break was a busy week for Rochester Athletics with many sports teams in action. RC men’s basketball ended its season by being eliminated from the post-season tournament, while softball and baseball were both in action.
The RC men’s basketball team entered the NAIA tournament as the No. 2 seed, but lost in the first round 85-75 to York College. The Warriors were led in scoring by senior forward, Angelo Griffis, who had 24 points and freshman guard, Armand Cartwright who had 20 points. RC ends its season with a 29-3 record.
RC baseball played six games going 2-4 this week. Starting with two loses in a double header with Indiana University-South Bend, the Warriors then headed off to its spring training trip. RC beat Judson University 10-6 before dropping the next two games to Saint Xavier and Walsh University. In the final game of the trip the Warriors came away with a 10-9 win over Saint Francis University. RC will be back in action at Madonna on March 18th, if the weather allows it.
RC softball had a busy spring break playing in eight games, going 2-6 during the stretch. The Warriors lost its first six games of the break losing in double headers to Cincinnati Christian University, Georgetown College and Union College. In the team’s final double header of the trip, RC swept Alice Loyd College 8-0 and 12-4. The Warriors next game is scheduled for March 16 at Oakland Community College, also depending on the weather.
