It was a full week of Rochester College sports, with the men and women’s basketball programs playing in the AII tournament, the softball team playing in a double header and the men’s hockey program playing their final match of the season.
The RC men’s basketball team entered the AII conference tournament as the top ranked team in the conference. The Warriors won their first game of the tournament with a 98-91 win over Indiana University Northwest. RC was led in scoring by Justin Nafso who had 22 points.
In the conference championship game the Warriors fell to Washington Adventist University by a score of 78-63. This was the Warriors second loss of the season and they will enter the NAIA national tournament with a 29-2 record.
RC women’s basketball also played in the AII conference tournament this week, winning the first game 76-75 over Northern New Mexico College, before being knocked out of the tournament by College of the Ozarks in an 82-61 loss. The Warriors are currently 16-16 as they continue post-season play.
The RC Softball team played in their second game of the year this week, losing both games in a double header versus Indian Wesleyan. The Warriors dropped the first game by a score of 11-0 and the second game 14-3. RC is 0-4 on the year as they head into several double headers next week.
The RC hockey teams season came to an end this week after losing to Indiana Tech 6-3. Scoring for the Warriors were Griffin Holt, Dakota Olvin and Christopher Williford. RC finishes the season with a 17-5 record.
