This week in Rochester College sports we saw the men and women’s basketball team finish up the regular season schedule, RC hockey play in a weekend double header and the softball team kick off its season.
The RC men’s basketball team opened up the new Garth Pleasant Arena in front of a capacity crowd of 838, with a blow out 124-45 win over Great Lakes Christian College. The Warriors had seven players score in double figures and were lead in scoring by Angelo Griffis who had 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
RC finished the regular season 28-1 with the #4 ranking in the NAIA. They will be preparing for post-season play, which begins with the AII conference tournament on February 25.
The RC women’s basketball team wrapped up its regular season with a series sweep of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. The Warriors came away with an 88-66 win and a 98-48 win. RC was led by Allyssa Copley who had 16 points and 14 rebounds in the second game.
The Warriors finish its regular season with a 15-15 record. They will be starting post-season play on February 24th, when they take on Northern New Mexico College in the AII tournament.
The RC Hockey team was swept by Michigan-Dearborn this weekend in a double header. UM-Dearborn won both games by the score of 3-2. The Warriors currently have a record of 17-14, with one game remaining in its season against Indiana Tech.
The RC Softball team had a rough start to its spring season, dropping back-to-back games to Madonna University by the score of 11-0 and 9-0. The Warriors will be back in action on February 28th when they take on Indiana Wesleyan in an away double header.
