Rochester College Warriors Sports Update Feb. 6-14

This week in Rochester College Athletics the men’s basketball team continued its dominance against NAIA competition, while the women’s basketball team won two of the three games played. Also, the men’s hockey team completed its sweep against hometown rival Oakland University.

Men’s Basketball

The RC men’s basketball team only played in one game this week coming away with a back and forth 84-82 win over Saint Ambrose University. The Warriors were led by senior forward, Angelo Griffis, who scored 30 points while adding six rebounds and five assists. With the win RC improves to 27-1 on the season, with one game left before entering post-season play.

Women’s Basketball

The RC women’s basketball team had a busy week, playing three times. The first game was at home against Albion College, with the Warriors defeating Albion 76-61. RC was led by Maddy Valko who had 22 points and Bethany McCord who had 15 points and ten rebounds.

In the second game of the week, the Warriors took on St. Mary’s winning by a score of 67-54. RC was once again led in scoring by Valko, who had 21 points.

In the final game of the week, the Warriors traveled to Indiana Institute of Technology, falling 99-73. RC is now 13-15 with two games remaining before post-season play.


This week the RC men’s hockey team completed a 4-0 season sweep with two weekend wins over rival Oakland University to claim The Jug. In the first game of the weekend the Warriors won a nail-bitter 2-1 at the Onyx Ice Arena. Both goals for the Warriors came in the third period from Matt Kadolph and Joey Giordano.

In the final game of the series, RC came away with a 4-2 win. TJ Burns, Joseph Swenson, Christopher Williford and Michael DiFranco all scored for the Warriors. RC is now 17-12 with two games remaining in their season.
