Sports Recap Nov. 26 – Dec. 2
The men traveled to play Sienna Heights on November 29. The men got off to a fast start, scoring forty points in the first half. They were led offensively by Armand Cartwright, sophomore guard from Bloomfield, who scored 18 points. They were led on the boards by Kash Blackwell, junior forward from Cleveland, who had seven rebounds. They held on in the second half to secure an 83-73 win. The Warriors now sit at 5-5 on the season and 2-1 in WHAC play. They play at Lawrence Tech on Dec. 2, looking to get over .500 on the season.
JV Men's Basketball
The JV men's team looked to build some momentum coming off of Thanksgiving break and before Christmas break. They traveled to Madonna University for their first match-up since being back on Nov. 27. They would escape with a 98-95 win over Madonna to bring their record to 4-5. They were supposed to play Concordia University of Ann Arbor, but it was postponed. They did take on Mid-Michigan Community College, at Garth Pleasant Arena on Dec 1. They would end up losing the game 77-56 and now their record sits at 4-6. They play St. Clair County Community College away on Dec. 5.
The women also traveled to Siena Heights on Nov. 29 for a game. The women were down by three at the end of the first, but were able to turn it into a three-point lead at halftime at 34-31. That halftime lead was propelled by shooting 55 percent in the second quarter. The Warriors could not shoot better than 30 percent the rest of the game. Siena Heights shot 60 percent in the third quarter and that led to a win for Siena Heights by a score of 72- 63. The Warriors were led by Maddy Valko, senior guard from Marysville, who had 23 points. The Warriors were led on the glass by Rikki Scherdt, junior forward from Ypsilanti, with 10 rebounds. The women are now 5-3 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. They take on Lawrence Tech on Dec. 2 at LTU.
JV Women's Basketball
The women were coming off a 70 – 60 loss to Wayne County Community College when they took on Macomb Community College on Nov. 28. They would go on to lose the game 84-60. They then would take on Oakland Community College on Nov. 30, where RC won 64-56. They got their revenge as last time RC fell short by a score of 78-72. They take on Wayne State University at home on Dec. 4. The women's record now sits at 3-5.
