Risen: A Roman Perspective of Jesus' Resurrection

The movie "Risen" looks at the first forty days of Jesus’ resurrection through the perspective of a Roman Centurion charged by Pontius Pilate to investigate rumors of a risen Jewish Messiah.

Joseph Fiennes who plays the main character Clavius has been serving his time in the army for the past 25 years and now finds himself on a quest to disprove rumors of a risen Messiah. This quest forces him to question his own beliefs and spirituality.

Different Perspective of Jesus's Resurrection

This movie is captivating to the viewer because it shows a different perspective of Jesus' resurrection. The movie also makes viewers aware of how non-believers perceived the Messiah.

Additionally, I liked how the director Kevin Reynolds incorporated the Roman guards into the movie by having them watch over the tomb where Jesus’ body was held because Pilate was worried that the “Jews” would take his body and hide it. Overall the movie was a bit glamorous, but they did a great job as far as the excitement and hype of the movie.

I would recommend this movie especially because Easter is coming up and it would be a great movie to go see with the family.
